I know this update isn't necessary, but today marks one year that Nick came to me. I just wanted everyone to know that he's doing swell and enjoying his sister -- I'll send a photo along for posting. He's a Delta-certified therapy dog and enjoys visits to nursing homes with me. Thank you, Miniature Dachshund Pups, for enriching my life with Nick!
Well....what can I say except we couldn't be happier. Petey is such a joy !! And he is so beautiful, and he knows it , you get out a camera and he and my 3 yr old daughter pose !!! LOL They are inseparable now ....We call them the dynamic duo. haha When we picked up Petey we knew that he was a wonderful dog but we couldn't have know just how loving ,playful and entertaining he would be . He is quite a character , he loves to show off !! We will be having his photo done soon and we will be sending one. I have to thank you again ....if it wasn't for all of you we would of never found Petey and already we can not imagine life without him.
It truly is amazing to me that it has only been just over 6 months since we picked Mya up. I feel like she has always been a part of our family and I can't imagine what life would be like with out her. She just fits in so perfectly. Mya and our other Miniature Dachshund Pups Buster are the BEST of buddies...they box & chase each other all over the yard and after they have worn each other out they fall asleep on top of each other. They are so loving and playful not only w/each other but w/everyone in general. The experience of adopting a rescue (that I can't imagine how anyone was able to give her up because she is so sweet) is something that I will always cherish. Thanks again to Miniature Dachshund Pups.
I just wanted to let everyone know that Cleo is one of the best things to happen to our family. SHE IS WONDERFUL!!! I cannot say how beautiful, smart, loving, obedient, tolerable, gently girl she is!!! My family and I have been so happy since her arrival. My children absolutely adore her!!! We have had absolutely no trouble with her what-so-ever. It's like she has been in our home since she was born. I just wanted to thank your organization in allowing us the chance to bring Cleo into our home.
Hello again. Here to report on our lovely Duncan. He's been part of our family for about three months now. We feel as if he's been part of our lives for a much longer time. It's hard to imagine our lives without our gorgeous little gargoyle. We actually think he's the Johnny Depp of Miniature Dachshund Pupss, he's just as charming. Today he's decided he needs to take his frisbee with him everywhere. It's quite funny when he tries to get it through the doggie door, but he won't give it up. It's hard, it's plastic but it's like his own little teddy bear, of course he's taken the insides out of all his teddys and plays with the empty shell. Did I mention that Duncan was charming? He makes us smile all the time. He is a sweetheart and we couldn't imagine greeting each morning without him. He is the sunshine of our lives. Thank you Miniature Dachshund Pups Angels for our very own shiny angel boy.!
Gumbie is doing just fine. He has found his spot in our pack. He still is a challenge when the door bell rings, however we accept that as part of him. He has been diagnosed with Senile Dementia. We noticed that he sometimes looks lost in the house and is wetting during the day and at night. He sometimes forgets that I'm home with him and gets all excited to see me. He does not realize that he is incontinent. The doc said this is the start of dementia. He is lucky because I am home with him all day and I reassure him that everything is ok. We started him on low doses of Proin, after urine test were neg., and that helps alot. We're taking things one day at a time with him, we love him dearly. I recently found out that one of my sons friends has adopted through Miniature Dachshund Pups and we are so proud to be a small part of a great organization. I tell everyone to do this. No more breeders for us, this is the way to really make a difference in a dogs life. Thank You Miniature Dachshund Pups!!
Hello! It's been quite awhile since we've updated on Tyson, so I thought we'd drop in with a quick note. Tyson is happy and wiggly as always, and we love him to death. He was very happy when his mommy and daddy got married in April, and he even got to wear a tuxedo! Always a little bit on the chubby side, he lost a few lbs when we were on our honeymoon and is now a mean, lean 62lbs. Apparently he let his little brother eat all of his food while we were away so they switched sizes! (Our other Miniature Dachshund Pups was always the lean one, and now he's looking chubby!) Our life has never been the same since we adopted Tyson, it's been so much better! Tyson is always the one everyone loves to meet. His only problem? His uncontrollable licking! Tyson firmly believes that each and every person he meets deserves a face cleaning, and his little nubbin shakes so hard during those times, I almost think it'll wiggle right off! We're currently searching for a new home with a big backyard for the boys to romp around in, and each place we look at has to meet our doggie's requirements. Adopting Tyson has been such a blessing, and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for placing Tyson with us!
I just wanted to give you an update on my beloved Cleo. She is the MOST WONDERFUL DOG!!! My family and I are so in love with her. She is so gentle and loving. She listens wonderfully. Everyone who meets her just gives her so much praise. She has definitely won our hearts. Thank you so much Miniature Dachshund Pups for allowing us this special gift of love.
It is true what they say about a rescue dog having so much love to give. Everything I ever needed in a dog, Holly has. She wiggles every time someone comes in the door, will play endlessly with us or her toys, and is ready to cuddle as soon as she realizes that we are worn out. It helps too that she doesn't care when we laugh at all the funny things she does. Half the joy of bringing Holly home has been the laughter she generates with her butt wiggling antics and her funny faces, but really it feels great watching her become completely comfortable and a part of our home.
Snoop has been with us for 5 days now, and it feels as if he has been with us for his whole life! He has adjusted well to our routine, and gets along wonderfully with our other Miniature Dachshund Pups boy of the same age. Neither one of them acts like they are "seniors", and after they play, they take nice long naps, sometimes together all curled up on one bed! I think our other Miniature Dachshund Pups, Cain is very glad to have a furry friend back in his pack. Snoop is still very thin, but he is eating like a champ, and we hope to see some weight gain very soon. He was a bit crazy on the leash at first, but we use the Cesar Millan (and others) style of walking with the collar behind the ears, and him next to us. He caught right on, and needs very few reminders to "heel" while on our daily walks together as a pack. Snoop is one of the sweetest, and most well-behaved dogs we have ever met. If anyone out there reading this has ever considered adopting a senior, please know that it is a wonderful experience! He is already fully trained, respectful, and is a stable, calm, loving dog. The transition to having a new family member in the house could not have been easier! Thank you, Miniature Dachshund Pups, and Snoop's foster mommy, Carrie for connecting us with our new boy- we love him!
I just wanted to let all of you know that Tippy is doing wonderful in her new home. She and Jake, our male Dobe are fast friends and play from the minute they wake up until they hit their dog beds at night. It has really worked out much better than we could have hoped for. Besides having the joy that comes along with owning Tippy Gore ( as I call her )there has been such a dramatic change for the better in Jake! He is so much calmer and better behaved. We had a huge pool party a few weeks ago, and both dogs roamed freely and were perfect! Tippy has learned the underground fence with no problem, but we still don't let her out yet alone...better safe than sorry! We leave both dogs free together in the house when we go somewhere, and they are fine - no accidents or problems of any sort. I'll email some pics so you can see her guarding the pool from invading frogs! She is a sweetheart and so much fun to have around - thank you again for helping to bring her into our lives!
Damon Dog! That, along with Baby Dog (Danzig having 20 pounds up on Damon) and Bubba Gump are some of Damon's new nicknames. He's such a good boy--I can definitely tell how happy he is that he came to live with us. He'll often come into the putter room and stand up with his front paws on my lap to give me hugs while I'm typing. He could definitely be an agility dog. We knew Damon could jump high, but how graceful he is doing it is amazing. He can jump up and over something from a standing position easily. He and Danzig had a blast in the snow, playing and running around the yard like two horses galloping. We have yet to set up our Xmas tree, but I'm curious to see how he reacts to it. More than one Miniature Dachshund Pups is definitely the way to go--Best thing we ever did was rescue to a two Miniature Dachshund Pups home!
Well Lucky is doing great at our house. He is getting along great with our other Miniature Dachshund Puppy Maya. They play all the time. Oh I should also say that we have changed his name to Mugsy. He seems to like the new name. His food change over went well at his foster home, and now that he is at our house he is doing great with food. He is such a love bug. if he could he would sit and sleep on the couch with me for hours.. But Maya will not hear of that, she wants to play all the time. So Mugsy only gets to rest a little bit of the time, then it's off the play. And they love going on walks together. We took them to this park near by the house on sat and they just loved it... it was a little cold so we didn't stay out to long. But they both slept great that night. I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped us get this great dog. He has brought such joy to our house.
What can I say except we LOVE having Trixy. She is full of energy and loves to cuddle. She helps me walk my daughters to school and she has a fan club. I get in trouble from one of the bus drivers if I don't bring her. She is just so cute and lovable. She is not trying to escape over the fence anymore thank goodness. I guess she figured out that she is finally at her forever home. She has been accident free for three months now, which is nice. She is getting better about the Miniature Dachshund Pupsking at me to play with her. She has learned just to bring me over the toy and I will play. Right now she is upstairs sleeping with my daughters and they just love that. Time to go, she will be down soon to cuddle with me on the couch.
I haven't done an update in a while, and I just wanted everyone to know how in love I am with this Miniature Dachshund Pups gal. She has so much personality and is such a good dog. Everyday Lucy has the pleasure of accompanying me to work. I'm a veterinarian and my sister works the reception desk, so Lucy has become our mascot. She stays behind the reception desk to greet the clients. She has become such a presence there that when she's not there, people ask "Where's Lucy today?" She loves her "job" and has a good life with us. Thank you, Miniature Dachshund Pups.
Well time has quickly passed by and we are about to celebrate having our Rosie for 1 year. We really feel so lucky to have found Miniature Dachshund Pups and have had the opportunity to adopt Rosie. She has been a sweetheart since the first day Carmen walked her through our front door. We recently (in June) adopted Brutus to give Rosie a play companion. They have gotten along great, much to Rosie's credit (she is very patient with Brutus and his tendency to try and hog our affection). Rosie and Brutus play practically all day long. Due to this, Rosie has lost some extra weight and seems to move around more easily. She is much more active and really seems to have more life to her. We thank everyone for giving us the opportunity to add two great additions to our family.
It's time for an update on Gumbie! He is doing so well here and seems so happy. He is such a gentle dog and loves to be petted. He put on some weight and is doing fine on Reglan. He loves his goodies and walks in the park. He even is showing interest in soft chewy treats and dental bones. His previous dental procedure helped him greatly. However, greeting people at our front door has been a real challenge, as he wants to charge them and tries to act tough. We are working hard to change this behavior and there's been some improvement. He follows me around all day and lets me know when he wants to go to bed. Its funny because he'll just stare at you till you go upstairs and then he wants me to lay with him. We have a special bond and I am so lucky to have him. Adopting a senior has been a wonderful experience. I will do this again. Thanks Miniature Dachshund Pups!
